The Conversion of Companies During the Coronavirus

Kering SA,

This company is the conglomerate behind luxury fashion labels Balenciaga and Saint Laurent, who stated it would switch factory operations to producing surgical masks for French hospitals, with the approval of health authorities.

ExCel Centre (UK)

The ExCel Centre is being quickly transformed into a temporary intensive care hospital that will house approximately 4000 beds. The temporary hospital will be receiving patients from ICUs across London. But this will not include all types of patients -- just patients who are sedated and ventilated, and need to be cared for in an ICU.

Garmong Construction

This construction shop is keeping its crew working by creating and fabricating mobile plexiglass panels for hospitals to temporarily place at registration and interaction areas. The intention is that these sneeze guards may help protect healthcare office workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lego

The brick building company has unrolled a new website which encourages families worldwide to connect to play-based learning across social media. The website is meant to help children to continue building life-long skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and developing new forms of fun while away from school. The initiative also aims to alleviate stress on parents during this unprecedented event.

Linamar & Thornhill Medical

Linamar is a Canadian auto parts company who is teaming up with Thornhill Medical to begin making ventilators. Thornhill is actively producing ventilators right now and Linamar will help them to scale up to produce more, more quickly.
