The best streaming platforms to fight boredom

 

Streaming videos was once a pastime that seemed like a luxury to many people. But streaming has now become something that many people are depending on for comfort and entertainment during the Coronavirus pandemic. 

 

AppleTV Plus offers all original content, so no mainstream shows here. 

CraveTV has HBO and television series, as well as hit Hollywood movies.

Disney Plus offers a vast library of shows and movies from Walt Disney Studios, Twentieth Century Fox, Marvel Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, National Geographic and more.

Netflix includes a bit of everything, from original series to box office hits and popular Americans sitcoms and shows.

As a response to the Covid-19 restrictions, there are now many free streaming services available that are outside of traditional cable companies offerings.

Bell has put a selection of its news, entertainment, family and lifestyle channels on free preview temporarily.

Rogers TV customers will have free access to a rotating lineup of additional channels until April 30th.

As of March 1st, Shaw is offering current customers free previews for select children’s channels 

Sportsnet is offering NHL Live streaming access until April 30th, giving viewers access to every NHL game played to-date from the current season, for free. 

Along with providing free access to additional news channels, Telus says it’s offering family and educational channels as free channel previews through Optik.

Non-Traditional & Short-Term Streaming Options

The National Arts Centre is offering several free performances every day on Facebook Live. 

Disney Plus, Universal Pictures and Warner Brothers are releasing high demand movies for digital release in advance of their original timelines as well.

 

Whatever you like for entertainment, there is certainly a lot of choice out there - it is a consumer’s market, to be sure.
