When it comes to wearing a facemask, we’ve been given conflicting advice. The World Health Organisation says that facemasks are unnecessary unless it is a medical mask and you are a healthcare worker or positive for Covid-19. On the other hand, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in the USA now recommends their use. Little wonder there is confusion
There are some valid reasons for wearing a facemask. In the far East where facemasks were universally worn, most transmissions happened between family members living in the same home. At home they did not wear the masks. The wearing of masks in countries such as China, Singapore and Hong Kong, is likely one of the reasons that the authorities managed to get the virus under control.
