Tupperware – History

Although Tupperware is now available in more than 100 countries, it all started with one man — Earl Tupper — who created Tupperware in the 1940s. The American managed to invent a durable, flexible, odorless, non-toxic, and lightweight plastic which he turned into storage containers. He patented the Tupperware Seal in 1949, not long after the range was introduced to stores. The only problem? The range did not sell as consumers did not understand how it worked.

Then came Brownie Wise in the early 1950s and invented the Tupperware Party concept. Soon it became the company’s only way of distribution!

Introduced to Australia in 1961, Aussies have never looked back and generations have grown up with the well-designed and high-quality storage solutions.
