Lockdown rights under sectional title

Ours is one of the most stringent lockdowns imposed anywhere in the world, with no one allowed to leave their homes. You may not jog or walk your dog. Many are confused as to how this affects those that live in complexes. Government has said that the management of such estates must control the activities of the tenants in such circumstances.

According to the regulations that govern behaviour during the lockdown period, every person must remain in their place of residence. People may only leave for purposes as defined in the regulations. These include shopping for essentials such as food or medicine, drawing money or seeing a doctor.

This makes clear that people who live in flats or houses must stay within the perimeter of their own yard or home. If you want to take a run. You’ll have to do it in your garden. But what happens in a situation where people own homes through sectional title?
