Keeping the children busy during lockdown

Get some exercise

If you have a garden get out into the sunlight and toss a ball to one another. Play tag or touch rugby. Take out the skipping rope and hula hoop. You’re likely to have a good laugh along the way. Teach your children yoga or find a virtual fitness class to attend every day. Arrange a treasure hunt with clues and maps. This is good educational fun in which the whole family can participate.

Make time to socialize

Your children need to spend some time with their friends. Arrange Zoom time a couple of times a week and let the children socialize with their friends. It’ll give them something to look forward to. Time spent talking to grandparents and their other parent if you’re single is also good for all involved

Get things done around the house

Every home has those jobs that just never seem to get done. Well now you have the time. Get the kids involved in painting or gardening. Scraping and painting can be good fun and at the end of the day, you have improved your living space.

Make an herb garden or a vegetable garden. Plan improvements for the coming year. Let each member of the family choose their own home improvements. Even if money is tight there are always little improvements that you can make to enhance your living space.

Make the best of this time with your family. There may come a time that you look back and wish that you could have so much time together all over again.
